Seward, Alaska: Jumping-off Point to Kenai Fjords, Seward Takes Its Name From William Seward

Named after William Seward, the man who bought Alaska from
the Russians for $7.2 million, Seward lies 126 miles south
of Anchorage on Resurrection bay. Seward isthe historic start
of the Alaska Railroad, and the jumping off point to Kenai
Fjords National Park. St. Peter's Episcopal Church (shown
above) was built in 1906, and is a Seward landmark. It's
an easy stroll to downtown Seward, where you'll also find the new
SeaLife center (shown here), a local Seward museum, and a Native
