ordova is a pretty coastal town, a fishing
village built on a steep hill overlooking the harbor.
Among other things Cordova isa nice
place to walk, and the local museum has good displays and
a walking guide.
In the past, Cordova was a key player in
upper Copper River history.
Cordova once sent supplies by rail
to Kennicott, McCarthy and Chitina, which have now become "ghost towns."
The road north of Cordova now stops
at what is known as "The Million Dollar Bridge," a railroad bridge badly damaged in the Earthquake. |
