you are driving around Anchorage's broad commercial streets,
it's hard to believe that the city has 250 miles of fully
maintained bike and walking trails.
The bike and walking trails follow
Cook Inlet, and connect the city's parks - many of which
are located in small creek ravines or valleys at slightly
lower levels than the town's highways.
A walk or bike ride on one of Anchorage's trails takes you beside streams, through
trees, along Cook Inlet, and out in the fresh air.
Who knows
- you may see a moose! There's even a trailhead right off
of 3rd Avenue, in the center of Anchorage.
Good trail signs,
pinpointing your exact location in relation to the rest
of Anchorage, are located at every major trail junction. |
