laskans spend their winters catching up on social and community events and outdoor activities. The Fur Rendezvous (also known as "Fur Rondy") is a yearly February activity that draws Alaskans from around the state.

Fur Rondy had its origins in the days when miners and trappers came into town to trade, get supplies, and swap stories.
