now sculpting is one of the many activities enjoyed by the people of Anchorage in the winter.

Anchorage's main winter festival is the Fur Rendezvous, a lengthy February celebration which features, in addition to the snow sculpting shown here, the Annual World Championship Sled Dog Race and the Dog Weight Pulling Contest.

Anchorage is also the starting-point for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in March.
